What We Are Looking for in Fiction
Stories that are different, either inspiring or thought-provoking. Heavy subject matter is welcome, and a deep psychological feel is preferred. However, anything experiential will be considered. The following sub-genres are wanted: high fantasy, urban/contemporary fantasy, fairytale fantasy, romantic fantasy, comic fantasy, historic/Bangsian fantasy, dark fantasy/horror, and the always-adored unclassifiable! (Alternate history, metaphysical fantasy and alternate history stories may be considered.)
What We Don’t Want
Science-fantasy, or any type of science fiction. Although we don’t mind erotic themes, we do not want heavy erotic content. No x-rated material, descriptive torture scenes, harm to children, discrimination, harm to animals, bestiality or S&M themes. As this magazine is intended for both sexes, we would not likely be interested in feminist writing. We also do not accept fan fiction, vampire stories, superhero stories, or kids stories (unless they appeal strongly to adult readers.)
Spelling and Grammar
Please run a careful spell check and go over your grammar before submitting. We aren’t overly strict in this way, but it makes our lives a lot easier. Anything written with very poor spelling and grammar will be rejected without consideration. As for your national spelling, as long as it is English it should be accepted (i.e. Americans spell the word “color” this way, while Canadians spell it “colour.”)
Pen Names
Some writers use pen names, either to protect their true identity or because they feel their name doesn’t sound appealing enough. We encourage you to use your real name, but if you insist on using a pen name please let us know and only your pen name will appear in our magazine. We also ask that you send a photograph of yourself if you are able (after we agree to publish one of your stories.)
Tips
We love stories which deal with the paranormal! New Age subjects may apply to this, but anything too religious in its approach may be rejected. Try to be fluid; avoid ‘stretching out’ or rushing through, instead let your story be paced in its own natural flow. Don’t be afraid to bleed! We love real, honest emotion. We love soul-deep thoughtfulness or feeling. The inner realm of the soul is where lives and springs the force of the imagination. Don’t be afraid to go in deep and reveal what you find there!
How to Submit
Please submit your story to us in the form below. If its paragraph settings are disrupted in the process, we will resolve the problem. Your short story should be less than 10,000 words (less than 5,000 is preferred.) Your story should be double-spaced, with a title in UPPERCASE LETTERS. Please give us your real name (if you wish to use a pen name, please make it clear what it is.) Leave contact information, if at least just your e-mail address! We will try to get back to you as soon as possible, but please allow up to three weeks for a reply.
