About AR

Thank you for your interest. Why was AR created? What are our intentions and philosophies? And where are we headed? Let me tell you!

A Conception

Its conception came about while I was trying to figure out how I, a virtual unknown in the literary world, might make a name for myself. Having had only one minor publication, it seemed unlikely that I was going to sell my epic fantasy novel any time soon. Not without connections, or any serious attention at all. While I was talking to a good friend of mine, the thought occurred to me that I could do something that I had conceived of years ago…Everyone is entitled to dream, aren’t we? Sure—and here’s mine! I always dreamed of becoming a successful fantasy author. But at the back of my mind I had the unselfish dream of founding a magazine that would showcase undiscovered talent; gifted writers who have a lot to give, but may have a difficult time getting published (it’s a crazy business (but is there any other kind?)

So like I was saying, it hit me—I could do that now! It would be a great way to promote myself and other young writers both at the same time! And why not? There’s no time like the present, and the business isn’t getting any easier to break into. I knew right away that this was what I wanted, and needed, to do.

Our Mission

You already know after reading the first part, but beyond aiding undiscovered talent we also aim to publish a quality e-zine that can rival the big guys. Maybe that’s being a little over-ambitious, but hey, if you don’t reach the stars you might still reach the sky (Niebuhr was a wise man.)

How We Think We Think

The way we think is kind of pecular. First of all, we think too much. And then it must be said that we are a weird bunch of distant dreamers, confused philosophers and inspired free spirits (you know writers, some like to have a few too many spirits.) The artistic mind is rattled with surfacing ideas, echoing concerns and exterior concepts which make little or no sense to us. We are not rebels by nature, we’re just shaped that way. That is to say, well, umm, guess I sort of lost my train of thought there…

A Train to Somewhere

We’re not sure where, but we’re pretty sure we’ll be know when we get there. We just hope that you stay for the ride.

BTW

If you’re a young or struggling writer and you’re interested in getting a story published in our e-zine, click here.
